Officer David Romrell

On November 24, 2018, South Salt Lake Officers responded to a business burglary in-progress near 3575 S. West Temple. Officers attempted to stop two suspects who were fleeing the scene in a vehicle. The driver accelerated toward the officers and struck Officer Romrell. Officer Romrell was transported to the Intermountain Medical Center in critical condition. Unfortunately, Officer Romrell succumbed to his injuries.
Officer Romrell was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and had served with the South Salt Lake Police Department for 11 months. He is survived by his wife and 4-month-old child. Officer Romrell was the first South Salt Lake Police Officer killed in the line of duty.
