Officer Gustave J. Lund

Died on August 25, 1924

Age 61
Salt Lake City Police Department
Accidental: Pedestrian

Officer Lund died after being struck by a truck in the intersection of 1100 East and 2100 South, SLC.  The 61-year-old victim was directing noontime traffic when he stepped between the truck and a trailer it was towing. He died instantly. Officer Lund was married and the father of nine children. He is buried in Salt Lake City Cemetery. His bronze memorial plaque is sponsored by the Salt Lake City Honorary Colonels.

I take great pride in the fact that I named my son after you (Gustave Senior) and your son (Gustave Junior) Your Great, Great Grandsons name is Gabriel Joseph Lund. I am his father Joseph Richard Lund. I am the son of your Grandson Jack Richard Lund who was the son of your son Gustave Joseph Lund Junior. We are very proud of you and hope to make you proud of us. Thank You for such a strong legacy for us to look back and up to. Your Great Grandson Joseph Richard Lund
