He still needs your back ... The Utah Law Enforcement Memorial Plaque Sponsorship Program

Purpose: Raise funds for the Utah Law Enforcement Memorial by soliciting financial sponsorship of the bronze name plaques placed on the memorial wall. Full participation will result in more than $125,000 earned toward construction of the memorial

Sponsorship of the plaques is further intended to instill a sense of memorial ownership among the agencies, coworkers and, more importantly, family members.

Cost: Sponsorship for each bronze name plaque is $1,000.

plaque

Description: Each 4.25" by 10.5" plaque shall be cast of solid bronze by Eagle Foundry of Orem, Utah.

For the sake of uniformity, each plaque will contain three lines of text:
Line 1: Officer's legal first name, middle initial, last name
Line 2: Officer's department
Line 3: Month, day and year officer died.

Example:
William J. Antoniewicz
Utah Highway Patrol
December 8, 1974

Upon dedication of the memorial in September, 2008, the plaques will be placed on the memorial in random order, with the following exceptions: The first plaque (upper left corner) will be that of Salt Lake County Deputy Rodney Badger, the first Utah police oficer to die in the line of duty. The plaques of officers who fell together will be posted in sequence on the memorial.

Guidelines: Sponsorship of a memorial plaque is open to all supporters of the Utah Law Enforcement Memorial. However, when sponsorship of a plaque is sought by more than one individual or organization, the following preferences will be given:

1. Family
2. Police agency or auxiliary organization
3. Private individuals or organizations

Recognition of Sponsors: The names of plaque sponsors will not appear on the plaques or anywhere on the memorial proper, which are reserved solely for the names of those who died. Instead, sponsorship recognition will occur in three locations:

1. An all-weather bronze stand at the memorial site will contain a book enabling visitors to find photos of the officers and their individual stories. This updated volume will also contain information and photos regarding the fundraising and construction of the memorial, as well as a list of plaque sponsors.
2. The names of plaque sponsors will appear on the Utah Law Enforcement Memorial web site.
3. The names of plaque sponsors will also be featured in The Utah Peace Officer quarterly magazine.

Contacts: For additional information or to sponsor an officer's plaque, contact any member of the Utah Law Enforcement Memorial board. Click here to see the full list of current sponsors.
