Sergeant Franco Aguilar died instantly as the result of a fall from a freeway overpass. The 36-year-old victim had responded to the scene of a one-car traffic crash atop the Fish Creek overpass on Interstate 70, approximately 12 miles east of Interstate 15. While Sgt. Franco was investigating the incident, the driver of an approaching vehicle lost control on the icy road and collided with the first. Sgt. Aguilar either fell or was knocked from the overpass. He is survived by his wife and five children.

His bronze memorial plaque is sponsored by the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Fort Duchesne.
